Essay on Kargil Vijay Diwas in English

26 July 1999 was a day when India won the war with Pakistan in Kargil. From the same year this day is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas. In this war, the brave soldiers of India fought with the enemies fearlessly even in bad weather conditions.

Kargil, located on the border of India and Pakistan, is the world's highest battleground with the worst weather conditions. In 1999, this war took place on a hill named Tiger of India and Pakistan, which is located at a distance of 205 km from Srinagar. The weather at Tiger Hill is very cold, temperature of this hill drops to -45°C at night. 


Condition of Kargil before War

During the winter of 1998-99, Pakistan secretly started firing its forces with the intention of conquering the Siachen Glacier. Along with this, Pakistan wanted to resolve the issue of Kashmir by creating international pressure.

 The Siachen Glacier is a very high place, so it was very difficult for the Indian Army to take its guns etc. to that place. But the Indian Army is known for its valor and it did not give up.

India's struggle in Kargil war 

Pakistani troops initially moved along the Line of Control and entered the Indian controlled area. Later, the local shepherds informed the army about the suspicious people crossed the line of control. 

To keep an eye, the Indian Army sent additional troops from Ladakh to the Kargil area and they came to know that the Pakistani army has crossed the Line of Control and entered India's control area. 

Both the soldiers started firing to get back the claim to the land. Later the Indian Army joined the war clearing all the infiltrators from the valley. 


India's Kargil Victory

India faced them boldly and soon due to the pressure of the growing Indian army and pressure from America, Pakistan had to backward its army. With this, the Indian Army recaptured the areas which Pakistan was trying to capture. 

This struggle by the Indian Army was named Operation Vijay and this war finally ended on 26 July 1999 after a total of 2 months and India won. this day is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas.
